Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Do you accept insurance?  I am out-of-network with all insurance companies.  I am able to provide statements with the information insurance companies require in order to process out-of-network claims.  If you are interested in this option, please check with your insurance company to determine what portion of the treatment they reimburse.  You are responsible for making payments when you receive services and for submitting claims.

  2. Can you do phone/Skype sessions?  I am able to provide video sessions through a secure system.  If you are interested in this option, we can discuss whether or not it would likely be effective in your situation.  Video sessions allow me to offer services throughout most of the country.

  3. Can you provide individual and family or couples therapy for people in the same family or relationship?  It is recommended that you seek alternative therapists if you are in need of both couples/family and individual therapy.  It can be difficult for the therapist to remain objective and maintain confidentiality if they are providers in both roles.

  4. Are you going to encourage my teen to transition if they believe they are transgender?  When I work with clients who are exploring their identity or feel certain of their identity and are interested in transitioning, I work to meet clients where they are, offer a neutral space for them to explore possibilities, and encourage thoughtful consideration of options.  I try to help clients understand the real life impact of options they are considering and only move in a direction that my clients initiate.

  5. Do you provide documentation to support the pursuit of HRT or surgery?  I am able to provide letters indicating if you meet the WPATH standards of care required to pursue these treatments.  Often HRT providers only require informed consent, however, surgeons typically do ask for documentation.
